Dr. Stefan Weigel

Dr. Stefan Weigel currently works at RIKILT – Institute for Food Safety, Wageningen University and Research Centre (NL). His current research focus is on the analysis of nanoparticles in complex matrices. He is coordinator of the EU projects NanoDefine (“Development of an integrated approach based on validated and standardized methods to support the implementation of the EC recommendation for a definition of nanomaterials”) and NanoLyse (“Analytical methods for detection and characterisation of engineered nanoparticles in food”). Stefan Weigel graduated in Chemistry at the University of Hamburg/DE where he also obtained a PhD in Analytical Chemistry. At Eurofins WEJ (Hamburg/DE), he coordinated the R&D activities for residue and contaminant analysis and was head of the Eurofins Technology Transfer and Training Centre, facilitating the start-up and expansion of laboratories in Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America.
